Ask LJ, Connector of All Things

Would you be excited by a volunteer choreography gig for amateur dancers?

If so, drop me some email (my-lj-name-at-gmail) or comment here.

There's a theatre project I'm in the early stages of planning that might have a dance component to it. I know nothing about dance choreography; if you do, I would love to chat about it with you and see where that goes.

What sort of dancing are you thinking about? If you want something along the lines of English Country or swing or waltz, I could probably do a not-awful job, though I would not go so far as to declare myself actually competent. But I bet I could do at least as good a job as I did making up light cues for Arms & The Man (in that I know rather more about dancing than about lighting). :)

Oh yeah, I'm not supposed to be volunteering for projects at the moment, either. :) On the other hand, it'd be cool to work with you on a theatre project. Anyway, I'm sure you will get a better offer, but, la. :)

Well, among the many things I don't know about dance is how to describe the sort of thing I have in mind, but I'm fairly certain I don't mean something along the lines of English Country or swing or waltz. :-)

Our chance will come.

Perhaps what you need is a few rounds of French Toast. :)

Is it more like English Country or like the orange-shirted kid dance from Peanuts? :)

It is more like the orange-shirted kid dance from Peanuts.

Actually... no, I may have to take that back.

Really, I'm not prepared to answer that question outside of the context of a longer conversation.

It's not French Toast if you have *context*. ;-)

It seems to follow that French Toast is not the solution to my difficulty.

What's the time frame you're looking at for this theatre project?

No sooner than 2011.
Tentatively, going up late March/early April '11.
